The victim, an adult male, was transported to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to the Rolling Meadows Police Department, the accident occurred at approximately 7:45 pm. The bicyclist was riding eastbound on Algonquin Road when he was struck by the vehicle traveling in the same direction. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. As of now, no charges have been filed.
Upon arrival at the scene, the first responders immediately started life-saving measures and rushed the victim to the hospital. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, the man's injuries were too severe, and he passed away. His identity has not yet been released as authorities are waiting to notify the next of kin.
