The CEO of UnitedHealthcare, Dirk McMahon, was targeted in a shooting incident that occurred in his home in Edina, Minnesota. Fortunately, McMahon was not injured in the incident. The suspect, identified as Luigi Mangione, has been arrested and faces several charges in connection with the shooting.

Mangione, aged 23, is accused of firing multiple rounds into McMahon's home on October 4. He has been charged with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree burglary, and first-degree assault, among other charges. If found guilty, Mangione could potentially face a life sentence.

The incident occurred when Mangione allegedly broke into McMahon's home and fired several rounds. Law enforcement officers responded to a 911 call reporting a break-in and gunshots. Upon arrival, they found multiple bullet holes in the front windows and walls of the house. They also discovered a vehicle in the driveway with Mangione inside, who was then arrested without incident.

According to the Hennepin County Attorney's office, Mangione reportedly confessed to the shooting, stating that he had been planning to kill McMahon for several weeks. As of now, the motive behind Mangione's actions remains unclear, and it is also unknown whether the two men had any prior relationship.

The Edina Police Department and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office are working together on the case. The investigation is ongoing, and Mangione is scheduled to appear in court again on November 8.

UnitedHealthcare has not released any official statement regarding the incident. McMahon has been the CEO of the health insurance giant since 2019, and he also serves as the president of UnitedHealth Group, UnitedHealthcare's parent company.
